For a pay structure that has such low satisfaction rates, there certainly are a lot of dealers still paying technicians on flat rate – over two thirds! While pay plans are at the discretion of individual dealers, we can better understand what alternative pay plans are out there to educate dealers on the options. This session will provide a quick background on the history of flat rate and its challenges, an overview of the primary alternatives with their pros and cons, and close with a discussion of what role the OEMs can play in this topic. Dealer interviews and successful case studies will be highlighted for each alternative pay plan type. What have dealers found to be successful? How did they implement a new structure? What would they do differently? The session will feature more presentation from Carlisle facilitators on the topic, interspersed with open discussion amongst OEMs.
